I used a Sony F828 a couple of years ago for a brief period and it's one of the sharpest camera IMHO. After going thru DSLRs and L lenses, I still feel that the F828 in good light gives me the best IQ I could ask for. Colors are beautiful to say the least. Really feel like going back to getting one.
Anyone know of a cheap one for sale? ![]() |

I just got my hand on this F828 a week ago.
My bro decided to go for the DSLR and give me this F828. I am still wondering how good this 828 as compare to the DSLR. Since you mentioned that you have tried DSLR and L lenses and still decide to go back to 828. I presume the F828 should be pretty good. Anyway, my bro do not want to sell it off as he find that it is good to pass it to someone who knows how to appreciate it. So far, I like this camera except some obvious CA effect. I will keep it as long as it last since it is a gift. To me, F828 is considered a very good camera as it is my first. Hope I will make full use of it. |

To date, I have taken about 200 pictures out of this 828. Most of the pictures turn out OK. A handfull of the pictures having the CA effect. Surprising the CA effect is quite obvious for this cam. Other then that, it is a good enough cam for me. Will see how to reduce the CA effect if possible.

F828 produces really sharp and contrasty pics. I am a DSLR user and have invested heavily in lenses but whenever I feel lazy to carry a heavy bag, I take the F828. It is ultra reliable and takes good quality video clips too.
That's why I never sell my F828. It's definitely a keeper. Reason for not getting the R1 is that it cant take video clips. This is impt to me cos this is one function that DSLRs will not have. |

Agree that the F-828 is a great camera, but its just a bit too bulky for daily use.
I'm selling mine off for $800 if anyone's interested. (Including filter and microdrive). Can SMS me 94597469. |

I have been using 828 about 3 years. Use it from new. It's my travelling camera, which is pretty close to SLR & without the weight. I like it, it's sharp & colors are good.

I have both Sony R1, F828 and even F717.
R1 is a very good camera which produce unmatchable picture quality against any kind of non dslr cameras. Superb 24mm CZ Sonnar*T! F828 is one of the best camera ever produce, Its build, super fast auto focus, Unmatchable CZ F2 lens, strong flash & many more easily suppass any current camera on market. F717 is one of the best 5mp camera that money can buy! I would also consider one of the best 5mp camera so far. Sony R1 is excellent in all aspect except the following. Cheap Plastic Body, EVF is good, but i felt F828 is better as in frame rate. EVF's FPS is low hence not good for panning. The buttons are made of cheap plastic, might be fragile for those who have strong hands. ![]() The LCD is very filmy too although you can twist around but have to be handle when care. No Video for a non DSLR is a nono. ![]() Very unreasonable high price although I bought mine. ![]() The 3 sonys mentions above have extremely fast auto focus, great details & one of those best lens you can get.... Sad to sell these days, all sonys downgrade their lens from Sonnar to Terrars even for all H Series.... ![]()
