Following this thread in the Nikon section... for the fun of it... also, like the Nikon thread... list the lenses you wish to own (in time or purely a wishlist item) in RED.

OK, why not?
ED 50mm f2.0 macro ZD 14-45mm ZD 40-150mm OM 35mm f2.8 OM 100mm f2.8 Tokina OM 400mm f5.6 Panagor Macro converter (does this counts?) Tokina RMC 2x TC (does this counts?) MF-1 OM adapter or my DIY special EX-41 for the above and everything else I have in OM direction like macro bellows, extension tubes and lens reverser. Sigma 135-400mm I am realistic, this is the next one to get as soon as it gets here, unless I hear something bad about the lens. Last edited by OlyFlyer; 21st April 2007 at 11:40 PM. |

As long as it works with the 4/3 system, it counts... even if it means you are using a lens adapter... LOL.

Wah! This one is serious Godzilla lens! You really can bring the moon closer to you, and shoot some serious slower moving wildlife up close and personal...

Don't want to be rude but i think my 400mm is better than a 500mm mirror even if it is 100mm shorter. It is brighter (f5.6 instead of f8.0) and it has less chroma. Also, as far as I know, all mirrors are quite soft, like my 400mm with a 2xTC on it. Unfortunatelly it is also heavier than a mirror. On the other hand, some mirrorrs won't even fit on my E-500 because of the built in flash.

New camera bodies are coming out... how about an upgrade deal with them if they cannot resolve this?

Maybe for you, but I have a Soligor C/D 500mm mirror with a T-mount thread (rather than M42) and a 77mm lens opening, and I like mine.
The differences in mounts is that while both are 42mm, the M42 has a 1mm pitch, and the T-mount has a .75mm pitch...my guess your lens is also a T-mount, although if you already used it on an M42 thread the threads are already ruined. As I said above I haven't to really put it to the test yet as I don't have a tripod at the moment, but I was able to get a decent shot handheld in the store at 1/50th of a second (unbelievable, but true). In case you were wondering, the C/D is rumoured to mean "Computer Designed"...Soligor had two 500mm mirror lenses, the better 77mm version, and a lower quality 72mm (from what I read online). |

Maybe that why I could not fully fit that lens in the adapter. Stupid seller says M42 so I forced the M42 in and as you mention...it's ruin
...but mine is the 72mm. Will post up a shot of two..but moon shooter it is not. The moon shots were really out of contrast and sharpness.

Here's an 100% crop image from my 500mm on my E-300 in the store when I bought the lens...remember this was shot at 1600ISO without noise reduction, and this was handheld at 1/50th of a second (the handheld rule states that at the equivalent of 1000mm I should be shooting at 1/1000th of a second):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...ndheld50th.jpg I'm still amazed that I got it as sharp as I did...that's why I bought it. |
