Default D70s + Tokina, Tamron, Nikon

Hi All

Looking to buy the following lens to go with my D70s

Tokina 12-24 f4
Tamron 28-75 f2.8
Nikon 70-300 VR or Nikon 80 - 200 f2.8 two touch??

I never owned anything wider than 20mm before. I was wondering whether to go for 12-24 and 28-75 OR select somthing in 16/17 - 70 range?? Is it worth while to wait for the new tokina offerings???

Other lens I have are 50 f1.8, 18-70 kit, Tamron 90 f2.8 Macro

Your thoughts and suggestions welcome

since you already have the kit lens, why are you still looking at the 16-70mm range?

go for the wider ones like the 10-17mm fisheye, then get the 80-200mm <---you can't go wrong with this.

buy the cheapo 70-300mm and then a monopod to compensate.

Im using the above setup, . but would advise you to get something like 17-50 + the newer 50-135/150 f2.8 if you do not need the ultra wide capabilities.
its way more convenient that way

the 3 lenses u suggested is good enough for better quality images.
think no furthur unless u want to get all nikon lens.

you can let go yr 18-70 lenses once u aquire the 3 lenses.
as for 50 and 90, you go along and see how often u like to shoot low DOF and macro.

I find I am shooting more in the 28-70range so I want a fast lens. Probably I will sell the kit lens off.

I tend to use longer focal lengths during travel. That is the reason for not settling for 80-200 (comparitively heavy) and still considering 70-300 VR.

there is also another cheaper alternative zoom with VR is 55-200 vr.

Exactly that was my confusion

17-50 + 50-135/150 f2.8
OR
17-50 + 70-300

I think I can live with the small gap between 50-70.
Can you give some more details on 17-50 + 50-135/150 f2.8 combo? Tokina? sigma? Nikon?

I am considering that also. But in 28-70 range I want a fast one. 55-200 is not here and not there

What you usually shoot, will determine the focal length.

there is a 16-50(tokina), 17-50(tamron), 18-50(sigma), 50-135(tokina) and 50-150(sigma)

personally i would go for the 17-50 and 50-150.. for me i would rather go for the 50-150 than 70-300 since i don use the tele as much as the 50-70 range...
I think the best would be you go down the shop to try out those ultra wide 10-20 or 12-24.. they really make a difference

If you're travelling a lot, then the 18-200VR might be a good option.
