Buying lenses online

Hi people,

just wondering if anyone of you out there has had any experience buying lenses online, and if so from which vendor and your comments? Thanks!

if you're talking about new stuff.. i bought most of my camera stuff from bh-photovideo and adorama.

decent vendors. i paid using my sg cc, of which the credit company actually called me to check if i had carried out that online transaction.

got a lens, two filters and a bag from bh-photovideo, if foreign aka non-US cc is used, have to hard copy verify, i.e. fax the identification, particulars and stuff to them which is quite troublesome.

got a d80 body, batts and grip from adorama, they didnt require the same identification faxing and stuff. order placed on saturday (the jewish sabbath), they verified on sunday, approved on monday, and shipped monday evening. bank called me though.. woke me from my beauty sleep

packaging wise, i felt both companies packed their shipments decently for US shipping (by UPS etc) but i think they should add more cushioning for overseas shipment esp.. if usps is used etc. overseas shipping is expensive though.

if you are interested in used camera gear, its either ebaying, from craigslist (lots of stuff on it), KEH cameras? etc.. but.. condition wise i'm not too sure whether what they describe as excellent, LN, ex+, ex-,bgn, ug etc to be that accurate.
