Nikon service centre standard reply: "your camera/lens will be ready in 7~10 working days if parts are available or no replacing of parts are needed."

If it doesn't affect your pic, just bear with it and send in after your trip..
Anyway, they will appeared again after cleaning..
Just like dust in lenses..

Lots of things are irritating to see. Hair, dust, dust smudges, the list goes on. If it were me I'd either try clean it myself using a blower (and nothing more!) or just ignore it. Opening the camera up will actually make it more supceptible to dust, and you might actually get your camera back with more scum in the viewfinder.

it will not affect your picture.

its only in the viewfinder and not on your sensor.

yeah... i need to take my D40 to NSC for servicing... lucky they are kind enough that they wave away the charges... as it is not due to manufacturer fault... and yes they did say... must put for 7 working days...

yours is just like hair spot on the view finder... mine got 3 black spot on the viewfinder... and on the sides of the viewfinder got like tar stain...

If you have connections, ie u know ppl there and you go during office hrs...

It is a 10mins job. Otherwise it can be anything from 1 to 2 weeks due to the pile of stuff they have to service for free.
