Default 2.4GB MicroDrive in IT show 2003

There is a 2.4GB MicroDrive pre-product presented in IT show 2003. This MD is made in China, will be available in the market in couple of weeks. The list price is US$200. I have tried it on my S2 Pro, but it does not support. (LCD displays "Card not initialized" ). The technician explained that because this MD uses FAT32 format, however S2 only supports FAT16. But it works well on Nikon D100 and other Nikon digital cameras. As my personal opinion, It is a very competitive product as compared to those GB capacity MDs and CFs, although many ppl complains that MD is not so stable and it is power consumed. Wish to see the reviews of this product soon.

Very simple to try: format a CF card on your computer, doing a full format to FAT32 and put it into your PC. Time taken: <5 mins

DIX firmsware only at the moment recognises fat16. D100 see both ZFat16 and Fat32. Who was the maker of the that microdrive again ? Sounded like a new player in supply pool.

If I am not wrong, the producer is Nan Fang Hui Tong (Chinese Pin Yin), China.

The max capacity of FAT16 is 2GB. Not sure if you can format it into FAT16 and use it on S2. If yes, there will be some space lost as well.

Not to spoil people's market, but frankly, I think it is quite risky. Look, some people don't even want to deal with the current set of MDs from IBM/Hitachi, and this one is from China, without any reputation? Oh boy...
