Hi,
Thinking of getting this two lenses for my D70s (body only). 50mm f/1.8 - I love taking potraits, pictures of friends/families, would love the shallower DOF effect (or something I read like that). 18-200VR - I found out that I like taking pictures using the ultrazoom of my previous Canon S3-IS. Used it to take sports and to "snipe". Plus, i've read about the pros/cons of the 18-200 and how it makes a great walkabout/travel lens and I'm going to many, many places in the next few months. I've read about the distortion and seen some of the "distorted" photos, don't feel (yet) as if its going to affect me. Comments? Suggestions? |

18-200 VR - Get it if you like the convenience. If you're looking for tack sharp images at all focal lengths, then this is not the lens to get. Sharpness is acceptable but not exciting like the 17-55 or 70-200. |

i've got these same 2 lenses for my D50
As another poster said, they will cover most situations quite well! The 50mm is a cute little lens that produces nice sharp images, and I love the shallow DOF for portraits! I also still have the 18-55 kit lens but don't think I'll be using that again cheers Satz |

![]() not sure that you may need wider angle when you shoot landscape. |

Thanks guys, glad to know I'm roughly on the right track. Anyway, the wide angle thing will be looked on, see how I come back from my first trip, whether im happy with the 18-200.
