i noticed while autofocussing the flash tend to give out several flickers of flashes. i read its for measuring purposes but alot of ppl complained of e pain it gives to their eyes. Is there anyway to solve this prob?

the strobes of light are to assist the camera in AF.
from dpreview: In a low light situation with the flash raised the camera will strobe the flash to act as an assist lamp for the AF system (it must be raised manually to perform this function). |

Check the manual - this function can be turned off.
If the "blinking" is still there - you may also want to set the "red-eye" function to OFF as well. |

Turning "AF Illuminator" off will stop the strobing, but then your camera won't be able to focus when there isn't enough light to do so (the camera uses contrast detection between light and dark) the camera has to generate its own light, and that's the strobing; if you get the FL-36 or FL-50 external flash, it has a much less annoying red beam to light up the scene rather than using the internal flash.
