Default AF on D100+AF-S80-200+Kenko Pro 300 2X AF-S TC?

Just wondering if anyone is using this setup:

Nikon D100 + AF-S 80-200mm + Kenko Pro 300 2X AF-s teleconvertor

I can't get any autofocus with this setup, and I find it quite bewildering. When hooked onto my F100 and F4, this lens/TC setup works perfectly.

Anyone else with a similar experience?

The Kenko isn't a 100% AFS TC, that's what I know..

Tried the D100+Kenko TC+VR70-200mm setup yesterday, and the AF works! It's a bit strange that it only doesn't work with the AF-S 80-200.

How about a Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 3x Teleconverter for Nikon??
Selling at eBay for US$199

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=30067

Is it going to be any good on a AF-S 80-200mm??
Quote:
The Teleplus PRO 300 converter is made with high quality multicoated optical glass supplied by Hoya Corporation, the worlds largest manufacturer of optical glass. The PRO 300 3x is designed for use with lenses of 50mm or above and work best with telephoto lenses of 100mm to 500mm. The PRO 300 3.0x can be used with telephoto zoom lenses as well as prime lenses. However, Kenko does not recommend them for lenses that have a zoom range that starts under 50 mm.

KENKO PRO 300 AF Teleplus converters have genuine Gate Array IC (Integrated Circuitry). It means that the converter’s unique circuitry maintains signal integrity between the camera body and lens. These converters are designed to electronically operate the same way an original manufacturer’s converter would provided there is enough light available.

Important Note: Due to the 3 stop light loss inherent in a 3x converter, Kenko states that the PRO 300 3.0x converter will not auto focus with lenses that have a smaller aperture than f/2.8. With all lenses having apertures smaller than f/2.8, Kenko recommends using the PRO 300 3x in manual focus mode.

Ah yes, so that's why the D2h has great high ISO capabilities. Wonder if it has special LBCAST characteristics to compensate for Kenko rendition too.

So Willy, how do you find the D2h? Specifically, I can't seem to find any pictures about to decide whether it would be worthwhile getting one or not. I can't imagine it would be good sense buying one without first having a look at the images that it produces. How do you find yours? What's the quality like, particularly at ISO 1600? Are the Hi-1 and Hi-2 settings useable?

Angry Non Nikon Lenses on D100

I am also facing similar problems to yours. Whenever I attach a non-Nikon lens, ie my Tokina 20-35 and 2X Teleplus converter, the AF refuses to focus at times. However, when I adjust (rotate) the lens mounting anti-clockwise, it seems that the AF and metering is back again. This is really weird as I don't have the same problems with my F4E. Wonder if this is a bug with D100 or it is a feature.......

I've used on D100, Kenko 2x TC + AF 80-200mm D and Sigma 2x TC + AF-S 70-200mm with no problems.
