Default 1st time shooting birds at JBP

1st time trying to shoot birds using my recently acquired 300 f4 + 1.4TC and tripod. Although it's at the bird park, still found it a major challenge, most shots not having good sharpness and colours. gotta practice and learn more! All experienced birders please give some advice!

I'm not a pro, but most digital photographer will post process their shots. USM (Unsharp Mask) for sharpness & saturation for vibrant colors. Raw helps

was the tripod essential in your shots? i was thinking of getting a 300mm lens but i dont want to carry a tripod along. was there enough light to shoot without one?

thanks!

Thanks Blazegal..i use a 30D..am new to photography and birding!

Hi hacknet..the shots were a mixture of handheld and tripod ones. When shooting in gloomy conditions or under thick foilage, i use tripod as i really need to use lower shutter speed. Otherwise can do handheld.

Jayyquix, very good job!! Very brillant color and sharp focusing!! Particularly I like #5, and you really did a good job capturing the details of its feather. Also sharp focusing on its eyes.
