Which Lowepro or Tamrac?

I have made 2 mistakes trying to get the "perfect" bagpack for myself. Here's what I need it for.

1. Laptop (max 15")
2. Canon 400D w/o grip (no grip even in the future, do not like grips)
3. 17-40L
4. 80-200L
5. Flash
6. A4 file about 1 inch thick.
7. 1 or 2 books, A5 size.

Bought the CompuDaypack, can fit #1, 2, 3, 5 only. 4 and 7 in other compartment. #6 no way to fit...
Bought the Rover AW, can fit #2 to 5 and 7. No laptop compartment, cannot fit A4 file.

Considering between Stealth AW and the CompuRover AW. Or Tamrac equivalent.

Please be free with advise. Will seriously also consider Tamrac, as some have commented its better built. But which model?

You may check with Cathay Photo Marina Square this weekend for Lowepro Stealth Reporter D550AW. This was their recommendation when I approached them with almost similar list of equipment.

I am a user from lowepro product for many years.
But I am NOT satisfied with the latest generation of lowepro bag.
Some new feature are added for the fashion, but the material/quality is downgrade.

I was using the SW650 sometime ago... Seems like I may have to get that again... Is the 550 the newer version of the 650?

What would you recommend to replace Lowepro? Do you have Tamrac's equivalent model? Would really love to get a good quality bag that fits my needs...

No doubt about it..... Pay a bit more and get a Tamrac. You won't regret it.

Price is OK as long as its not 4 digits and does not start with "4" and beyond...

eh... u prefer backpack or shoulder-bag, james? cos from ur load, the stealth AW will be a real killer to lug it ard, IMO...

compurover AW will be able to carry all dat. however, fyi, there's another on-going thread under general review sub-forum abt this bag. short version - not the most ergonomic bag ard.

tamrac has adventure 9 (at least, locally) dat can carry a laptop. see here. but i dun think can carry #6 & #7.

I would prefer backpack, cos had the SW650 before and ya... load on shoulders is a real killer.

Just came back from Crumpler too, and their biggest backpack will not carry A4 file, and definitely 80-200L cannot go into the "camera" compartment too. But they are nice. Nice but to that functional for me.

If CompuRover AW can handle all that, then, may get it if it is really the "perfect" bag for all my gears, ergonomics not withstanding . The Adventure 9 looks good, and someone said MS carries it. So, will check it out maybe tmr after school.

you can try Tenba 15 backpack. I had it and it will be able to squeeze of that in. but not in the most comfortable way. Another is to try the Neo Geo large. you can prob add a windbreak, water bottle and a lunchbox in it too. LOL

Googled Neo Geo... Came up with diaper bags, duffel bags, etc. But NO camera backpacks. Am I missing something here??

TMC is referring to National Geographic Backpack LARGE. http://www.amazon.com/National-Geogr.../dp/B000FJ4ICW

i believe this can take a 300mm lens with room to spare. CP and TK carries them.

. Ya... Saw those... Made of canvas... Super retro-looking... Super cool factor of 10... Like those ancient Asics Tiger shoes that I saw in Wheelock place...

Practical?? Need to check it out. But is canvas waterproof? Doubt so, but I may be wrong...

Eh? IIRC Stealth AW II and Stealth Reporters are different

Stealth AW is a daypack designed to hold "1–2 digital or 35mm pro SLRs, 3–4 lenses, notebook (up to 15", most makes), cell phone, file folders, change of clothes, toiletries and accessories".

Do note that you can't leave a lens attached to the body in transport, and you can't quick draw your stuff.

Here's what I did to carry all my equipment. I bought a Lowepro Stealth Reporter 650AW, and I went out and bought a 3rd party "backpack sling" that I then hook onto my Stealth Reporter such as the likes of this and viola. I got the convenience of a sling bag when I need quick and speedy access and when I need to walk or travel a longer distance I hook up the strap and it becomes a "backpack".

Yup that is the one. Able to withstand light rain and comes with a rain cover. The only waterproof bag I know is the lowepro Dryzone. The NG Large is tested to hold D2H with AFS300/2.8 DI and 2x teleconverter attached(hood reversed). and still got space for 17-35, flash, 50mm, AFS80-200 and the standard misc equipment. If you care about whether your bag looks dirty or gets dirty easily or not, this IS not the bag for you.
