i've used it with 70-200. works just fine.
however, i've read on dpreviews there are some problems with the 18-200 VR. u need to rechip the cam, IIRC.

It is like modifying an "old" equipment to use with other equipments that have new technologies. Although there are no known news (at least from what I know), I strongly feel that after modified, some older lens may not work properly. |

if i get a VR lens.....but do not want to rechip the camera for the moment, do i still get to use the lens (beside the VR function) as normal zoom lens? or will the lens just refuse to work totally?

Fuji Singapore does not have the ability to do the job. So your camera needs to be couriered to Japan to fix it. I had my S3 Pros sent in last year, both units took around 5 weeks. But Fuji did a very good job, each time the cameras came back like new, cleaned, services, etc. Or maybe I had a damn good experience with them. As for the 18-200VR, the problem is with focusing at 18-24mm range. And it is an erratic thing, making it very irritating, for me at least. At that range, it may not always focus or the camera will not recognize the lens. I don not know what is the technical terms for it, for which you'd probably find more details on Fuji Japan/USA's url or in Dpreview. Previously when I used my S3s with the 70-200VR or the 24-120VR, there were no such problems. Supposedly, this affects both S3 Pro and S2 Pro bodies. Hope this is enough for you. |

The 18-200VR thing affects the F80 body, but being a DX lens, you won't be using on F80 anyway...
Yes can be irritating that you can't focus suddenly. But flicking the camera on and off does solve the problem, or a manual twist on the focus ring and re-auto-focus will help. |
