Default Minolta Scan Dual III

hey guys,

managed to get my hands on the Minolta Scan Dual III from a fellow CS-er today... did a few scans, results were good, except that the scanning software that was bundled does not remove the dust AT ALL.

so guys, what software do you use to scan? preferably free, can remove dust one. hahaha.

and i'm wondering, how do you clean the scanner? do you use compressed air?

get a dust blower and a pair of anti static gloves and clean your negs before scanning. Its still the best way for dust control, almost as good as ICE if not better, and for black and white stuff, the only true way. Alternatively, wash your negs before scanning. I used to do that, i'd rinse them one in water, hang dry and scan immediately before dust gets to it. My biggest problem was getting my finger prints off them, which the gloves help.
