Default Epson R800 - is it really great?

Hi all

I am thinking of getting a good printer, mainly for still life/product type of images.
Do you think the R800 is suitable for this type of print jobs?

Should I use Epson Premium Glossy, Semi Glossy, or Matt papers?

What about Epson's 'canned profiles', are the accurate enough?

Hope to hear your feedbacks.

Thanks.

Epson printers pretty good but their post sale service/support is poor, even for the more expensive printers. but then post sale service/support in Sg for most brands are pretty poor anyway. they all want your money but after that....

anyway, for 'traditional' kinda look, semi glossy photo paper is best.

i own one..no complains at all. Paper/profiles are all personal preferences. Epson is no doubt the leader in printers and R800 is arguably the best A4 printer in the market! Any higher range one need to look for R2400 for the K3 inks/BnWs etc.

My R800 worked great and i love the photos!
i work on premium semi-gloss and their archival matte papers

the only nagging issue is the price of the cartridges.. moths in wallet

I appreciate your feedback.

May I ask if you have experienced any severe ink clogging problems with your R800 print head? It appears that early testing by Alan Briot in 2004 has encountered serious clogging problems after just 1 or 2 days of printing.

I just want to be sure that Epson has solved this problem.
Based on your experience, how many days does it take for the print head to start clogging?
