hi people,
I am thinking of picking up a 2nd hand 350D. I am just wondering if the 85mm f1.8 USM lens will focus accurately with the 350D or will I see a significant improvement with the 400D. I mainly take STATIONARY portraits, so I can double AF presses, etc, and I hope to use the lens at f2.2-2.8. If the 350D AF will be spot on 95% of the time, then it is ok. Anyone has real life experience with the 350D and 85mm f1.8? |

I find nothing wrong with my 350D and my 85mm/1.8. 'wouldn't really know though how it performs with the 400D. Should be the same i think....

Well, you might want to consider the 50mm f1.4 since it focuses much closer, and gives you more flexibility to move around and play with the angles.
The 350D's AF can stray sometimes, but I've only experienced it when shooting sports or events, where the subject is moving quite rapidly. It should not fail when you shoot 'stationary portraits'... |
