Hi all,
Switching from D2h. Money no issue, gonna get all the L lens...Which will you recommend if i dun really shoot sports? I love the feel/toughness of the Pro body cam and dun really like additional battery grip. But i need to face reality. What would be your choice? Wait for Mk3 or just get FF 5D? Thanks |

Think he meant 1Ds Mk3
Thanks guys, but i have to be realistic. The price difference betw 5D, 1Dmk3 and 1Ds Mk2 or 3 is too great to justify... |

For me, i'd get the MKIII(3)
Reasons for being so :- 1) More Cross type AF sensor with center AF sensor sensitivity raised to F4. Meaning i can still use F4 lenses or my F2.8 lenses with a 1.4TC and still use the center cross AF sensor for more accurate AF. 2) AF micro adjustment setting for each of my lenses. 3) High ISO performance. 4) Ablility to use the WFT-E2 - Great for wireless live view shooting in studio/macro. Some pple might die for the 10FPS, but the above reasons are already more than enough for me to justify it over the 5D if i can afford. |

I owned a 1D MKII but sold it after 2 years simply because it's hurting my shoulder as I carry it everyday. No doubt, once you've used to a 1DMk*, everything else seems a tad slower.
So I'm waiting for the 5DMkII. Hopefully, it's coming this year. For you, get the 5D. The bulk and weight of a 1D is no joke unless you don't mind. |

Wait for the 1D Mark III to land on our shores to try it out first. Specs alone can be misleading, but from plain numbers itself, things such as 14 bit depth, 50-6400 ISO, are hard to trifle.

FYI: Here's what it takes to buy ALL the L lenses (add a bit more for the new 16-35 f/2.8 L MkII), I don't even dare start doing the sums... I'm feeling weak just listing out all those lenses... |

I'll help you calculate...
price is in USD... the total for ALL the L lens... $52840 and since you're getting all of them, i'm sure Canon will give you a SUPER DUPER VIP card and probably round off the figures to $50,000 USD specially for you oh US$52840 = SG$80,070.98 please invite me to your Christmas party ![]() |

EXCELLENT choice to go for the 16-35L
a 85L will compliment well together with a 24-70L in my humble opinion |

On the 5D, use the 16-35mm f/2.8 L as the primary lens. On the 1D Mark III, use the 24-70mm f/2.8 L as the primary lens. This gives you an uninterrupted focal length coverage from 16mm to 85mm. If you don't have tiny, weak arms, get the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L for longer reach on the 1D Mark III, and pair it with a 1.4x TC II for an even longer reach. And for the specialist moments, you can consider the 300mm f/2.8L (sports) and the 85mm f/1.2 II L (portrait) lenses. Assuming you have a credit card that ties into Kris Flyer miles, make a trip to your favorite country and let 'em rip! ![]()

The fabled 3D has been, well, just a fable so far If only Canon would release a full-frame 12.8MP in the body of an EOS 1v, with 5fps drive,... that will be my dream camera! ![]()
