You saw a Canon lens (EOS??) to Oly FT body adapter? Where? I dun think this exists. And if it did, there is no way to control the apeture.

Some Zuiko Digital Lenses are quite expensive compare on the same FL on Canon Leagues but you will appreciate the pics quality from them.. Today I'm using Nikkor to Olympus 4/3 adapter and Leica R to 4/3 adapter which satisfy me with the results ! |

You should ask admin to move this to fourthirds section of the forum. That is where most ppl discuss 4/3 issues. |

Canon lens(EF) is too big to fit into 4/3.So it is impossible to do that.

Yeah sigma....the Sigma 55-200 is only a fraction of the Zuiko 50-200. The FOV is almost the same but the picture quality is only a fraction of the Zuiko.
Pay for what you get.

As for the 55-200mm I don't know the differences - because I don't have any of the two lenses - between that and the Oly 50-200. I dare say without having seen the results, the Sigma should beat any lens that is not designed for E-systems or other 4/3 cameras. Here we are speaking of Canon on 4/3 camera, and even if Canon is not possible at all to use on 4/3, ozkid88 is talking about economy and budget. I am just guessing, but a Sigma wins over any manual lens. Even if in a lab tests some manual lenses may give better results, the AF and automatic aperture control makes the Sigma more useful, giving a higher percentage of keepers. Although, even Sigma lenses are more expensive than most eBayed second hand film lenses are. |

If you are willing to do without AF then sure, the second hand manual lenses will be your cheapest option.
Flyer is correct to say that the Sigma range for 4/3 is also the cheapest if you want AF. Alternatively, stick to the Zuiko kit lenses. They do a fair job, and are much better than the competition.

I never think of age as a barrier to photography...my first camera as a child was a 6x6 fully manual medium format range finder (you had to set EVERYTHING yourself (even c.ock the shutter (CS originally censored that word)), and had to carry both a light meter and a focus-finder)...and at 11 I started doing my own darkroom printing...kids today are lucky; I'd love to have had this camera at 19, I would have taken 1000's of pictures a month.

Don't get a Canon lens, unless you know what you are doing. Good Luck! Last edited by OlyFlyer; 11th April 2007 at 01:40 AM. |
