Default Damage cause by Sony

This is really an unpleasant encounter with Sony service skill. I’ve to send my 707 due to a dust particle found on the LCD. After the service I found out that the LCD protector was force open because there was a scratch mark on the lower right hand corner of the LCD and further more the switch between the Viewfinder and the LCD mode was not working and I’m now stuck with only LCD.

The crap with Sony technician and engineers, I hope they have brain that’s it not a food can they are opening and you don’t go forcing it to open with a screwdriver!

I’ll be sending the cam back to them and ask for a new cover and a extended warranty, cos god knows what will happen to the cam after those sick people operate on my cam so many times due to their lack of technical know how.

seriously... i hated Sony service. they totally sucks.
i thought they had been better now but when u said this...

previously i got a monitor from sony & it spoilt just 1 week before the 1 year warranty. sent it there & it took almost a mth of UNABLE to repair response. until i threaten to lodge a complain & the nxt moment the same day they said it was repaired. den bring it back, 1 mth later, the monitor went back to the same problem.

My friend's 707 failed for no reason a few days after the 1 year warranty ! The circuitry in the 707 lens malfunctioned and the repair costs ~$800

the fact is, the technician can't be an expert for all model camera. they merely use the service manual and from there they figure out what to do. it also depend on their mood , atittude and their relation with the boss. so if they don't like the boss or never get a good bonus your camera is victimise.

I hate Sony's service. It really sucks so bad. I went there to repair my monitor also, wah lau....

firstly, service is bad. they usually dont' know enuf abt the indv products. i mean how can 1 service staff know so much abt all the diff sony products?

second, took damn long. Sony is a bloody big brand. but you got a mini service centre with 3 service staff during lunch time. wat kinda bullsheeet is that?

third, its bloody expensive. i can't rmember exactly how much, but their servicing costs a lot of money man.. wah lau..

i've already vowed never to buy any more sony products. not that the quality lousy, but their after-sales sucks harder than a vacuum cleaner...

Didn’t know that there’s so many victim of Sony after sales services haiz…..
Having such a big company and years of electronic back ground I always thought Sony product and services was above the rest of it’s competitors.

Any way this afternoon I did sent down to Sony service centre (again) to solve the problem. I demand a extended warranty due to their carelessness and this is what the counter ppl told me.

“Sony will check and guaranty that the item they repair, but other than that other problems after the service will be chargeable” I told him that look this is what that is pissing me off, I sent the camera just to remove the dust on the screen and look what you have done to it created more problem that is totally not related to the dust incident. How can I trust that after 2 rounds of incompetence repair done by your ppl not cause other funny problems? And are you telling mi that Sony can’t even guaranty what they have repaired and check, and they can’t guaranty they product life spend? And if that the case I will never buy and recommend any ppl from buying any of Sony product.

It means they will 'fix' something else to ensure your repeat business at the service centre. :-p

Let's see what Sony will offer mi after this incident.

If they die die will not guaranty mi a extended warranty, I'll never buy another SONY product even if it a "Out of the world product" cos the person who buy their product will never be guaranty.

Imagine this you buy a Expensive product from sony and it got Kuku and you send it for repair, the next thing another hicup happen to your beloved toy what do you feel "CHEATED"!!!

This sucks.... Sony should have separate service centres for different types of products.. like one for computers and PDAs, one for cameras and camcorders, one for houshold electronics... etc etc...

I had similar problem with my 717 focus and I still think its not fixed properly but I gave up talking to them. Worse still their service centre is in commonwealth but the technicians are in TUAS so you cannot speak to them but only explain to the service ppl who know nuts. Something that normally takes a day to be fixed now takes 3 days because of the transport to and fro from Tuas. next time before you send in your item take another camera and take detailed photos of the camera before you repair in front of them.

Got a call from Sony that my cam is ready for collection.
