the new update seems pretty juicy... here r some of the changes made taken from the website..

  1. Added a multiple exposure function.
  2. Added "panning mode"(MODE3) to the optical image stabilizer.
  3. Added a "low-angle" viewing mode that makes it easier to view the LCD display when the camera is held below eye level.
  4. Added feature that simplifies setting the aperture when using a lens without an aperture ring.
  5. Added two manual white balance settings to GUI. GUI design uses navigational cursor to easily select, and set, white balance (WB) to change the color temperature, or set the ISO sensitivity or flash.
Time restriction for making changes was removed.
  6. Added "HOLD" option to Auto Review time, enabling continuous viewing.
  7. Added feature to allow zoomed playback of photos. It's now possible to move back to the preceding images or forward to the next images while the image is still zoomed.
  8. Added [AUTO] for the ISO sensitivity in the aperture-priority AE mode [A] and shutter speed-priority AE mode [S].
  9. Added GUI option to easily check the firmware version.
  10. Improved the performance of AE(Auto Exposure) and AWB(Auto White Balance).

I seem to have trouble updating mine. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Haha.. yup. Just got mine few weeks ago.. finally i got my dream camera le.. hee... maybe next time we can go out shooting together.. surely can learn lots of things from you. hee...

Did u extract the file "L1V20.exe" ? First few times i also fail to update mine cos i tot only need to copy the "L1V20.exe" file into SD card.

After reading the instruction carefully, i double click the "L1V20.exe", it will extract the "L1___200.bin" into a folder & we need to copy this file only into our SD card.
Hopefully it helps.. thanks...

I've copied the .bin file into an SD card but what happens after that? Did the necessary steps except connect the cam to computer. Must I do that? I thought can simply update from the SD card like most other cams.

There is no need to connect the camera to the PC.
You must make sure that the bin file is copied to the root directory of the SD card and nowhere else.
After that just follow the procedure in 'STEP 4. Carrying out of the update' of the update instructions.

Done! For the rest of you who are blur like me, the thing I failed to do initially was not use the direct AC adapter. I thought it could work with batteries. So there! Thanks and again Tomcat and DaXiong! We small community of L1 users must help each other. I'm just glad now there's a Hold option for review!
