Default To buy or not to buy?

Just curious - Is there anything wrong with buying a grey set of lens? Body I'm not gonna get into. Just curious about the lens.

Coz the way I see it, those of us who buy 2nd hand lenses from the BnS anyway don't have warranty. Its the same with a grey set. For both of them we have to pay for repair or anything that goes wrong...

Pardon me if I put forward a wrong line of thinking as I don't have much idea about the rules of service by the service centres..

it is the price that matters.
2nd hand price usually cheaper than grey set.
grey set is cheaper than brand new with local warranty.
it is personal comfort level that counts.
some 2nd hand comes with local warranty too.

Yea I read this but I asked this question to kind of clear this doubt in my mind on what does a person think when he/she decides to buy a unwarrantied (dunno about this word ) 2nd hand lens but shies away from a grey set..

Yea but I'm talking somewhere down the line like lets say 2 or 3 months.

IMO the most practical use of lens warranty is the calibration service during the warranty period. I personally find as long as a lens is working well at first, it will stay that way for at least a few years. But the price of grey set and a warrantied set in Singapore isn't too different IMO.
