Hi, I am a newbie who just got my FZ50 for 3 days and loving it! I have a few questions that I hope you guys can help me out with:
1) Any recommended tripod for use with FZ50? How do I know which kind can fit my cam? 2) I'm interested in shooting macros... Can I buy any 55mm close up lens and use it? Or are there any specific kinds that can be used with the FZ50? I'm looking at a Hoya close up lens currently and not sure if it fits... 3) Is using close up lens (Hoya close up) or macro lens (like Raynox DCR250) better for macros? Whats the difference between them? 4)I'm also interested in getting a wide angle lens... Which kinds can work with the FZ50? 5) Where can I get the cheapest spare batt? 6) Is there a need to store my cam in a dry box since its not a DSLR? I thank you guys in advanced!! ![]() Last edited by hobbes187; 8th April 2007 at 11:15 PM. |

)2) most macro filter will go in nicely, but some recommand the raynox dcr250 becos of its price, quality and also magnification... personally tried hoya, not really satisfying. 3) they are practically the same (magnifying glass), just that the raynox is said to be a 2 element lens/filter while hoya is only 1. just like what i said in #2. 4) not very sure about this, cos the more commonly used olympus WC07 on the other FZ is said to have problem with fz30 5) eastgear... 6) up to you, if you always shoot there will be no need for dry cab. |

1. actually most tripods will do. to me as long as it's quick release, X, Y, Z axis tiltable with bubble balance, than am ok with it.
2. not sure 3. not sure 4. be very careful about wide angle lenses. you should bring the camera down to the shop and try it out before buying. for me i went with a 58mm Wide thru a stepdown 58-55mm. the curvatures were quite intense but that was what i was going for. heard that there some that are able to minimise the curvature but soo far have not had a need for it. will get it when i need it! ![]() 5. spare 3rd party batts cost about $16 - $18 at most places. ask around the usuals 6. mine's in a bag most times and ready to shoot. long term storage is in a box with a moisture absorber, but be careful not to let the humidity drop below 40% else things will start getting brittle(if kept for too long) and another even weirder kind of fungus develops. my box has about 8 2mm holes drilled into it = ave humidity 45%. (tooo troublesome to drill? go for an electronic dry box for $95) |
