Default S6500fd vs S9500 vs S9600

Helping a friend to look into these models of cameras.

I realised that S6500fd boosts a 3200 iso compared to others which are capped at 1600. Other then difference in mega pixel, are there any other significance difference?

If pixel is not of a concern, which model is recommended?

Many functions, and of course the fd function (which isn't all that important, if you ask me).

9XXX series is designed to be more advanced, etc. 3200 ISO is not that important because I doubt you'd really want to use the highest ends of the ISO range for most P&S cams (even Fujifilm) due to the amount of noise present almost all the time for highest ends, etc.

Why don't you check out the review sites and see what they have to say about these 3 cams? =)

I did search for reviews or comparison. Not many indepth reviews on these models. I've checked out the specifications, but couldnt get a good conclusion. I'm actually swaying into S6500fd side for its fd and 3200 features. Probably cheaper pricing compared to the 9xxx.

Beside having higher pixel in 9xxx, arent there any significant difference between them?

9500 review at DPreview:

If you're too lazy to read everything; 6500fd conclusion:

9500 conclusion:

But why Fujifilm though? Why not Canon S3IS, or Sony H2/5 (wait a little longer you have H7/9 which would be fantastic), or Panny FZ7/8/30/50? =D

Primary for its super CCD to render better dynamic range. And also its 28-300mm range. S3is and H2/H5 didnt comes in mind as I thought the ring MF of the S series offer a more dSLR feel.

Actually, FZ50 is also a competent player. But I thought fuji's sensor might be a winner.

What do u think?

Like I said, it depends on what she wants to shoot, in a sense yes you'd be getting better dynamic range but nowhere near that of a DSLR anyways, the only big plus point is indeed the more DSLR feel of Fuji bridge cams.

FZ50 is significantly more expensive, and noise is very bad for higher ISOs. As in, there's no noise, but there's no detail too. Typical Panny.

Note that Fuji bridge cams have NO IS though, so if your friend is planning to make action shots at telephoto end, etc anytime soon, then he/she would be cursing and swearing at that time due to massive handshake. Animals still not so bad, can use tripod I guess.

All bridge cams have their pros and cons I guess. It's just what you are able to reach a compromise with.

I just bought the S6500fd ~3 mths ago. A great all in 1 camera, I dun wanna lug around several lenses and flash. Much lighter than S9600 cos no swivel lens.Very usable zoom up to 300mm. Seriously usable up ISO 800, anything more than that gets noisy

It has it's limitations and I'm learning to get around them . Here are some of my humble pix since I got the cam if it helps you flend make a decision. Was using a FinePix 2800 Zoom previously.
