Default Moon shot @1000mm

I used a m42 mount MTO-11 1000mm lens on my KM 5D at dawn. Actually image came out ok for the first shot! My setup was mounted on a tripod with 2sec timer and remote cable release.

Anyway it was fun playing with a 2x tc but shot was not sharp. Expected it. But I literally had to "chase" the moon bcoz it moves across my viewfinder in less than 10 secs from upper left to bottom right!

Might do it again tonite after sunset this time.

This image only resized at 800x600.

The images are not BW, it came out that way. Actually first image should be descibed as resize not cropped.

Thanks for the compliment. I believe anyone with decent focal length telescope and T-mount adaptor fix to the cam can get the same results.

I found out that the top of Vivocity is a good spot for moon shots.

etegration, thanks for link. But I guess the result will be poor though. Just attaching a 2x TC already somewhat deteriorate the image. Imagine at 16x TC. I think it's a bit far fetch.

The 800mm + 1.4x or 2x TC should be good enough.

See the image at 2000mm resize, some PS done on contrast/brightness and USM.

Here I did a crop on the 1000mm and 2000mm image. See how the image quality dropped.

The image at 2000mm easily fills 4 19" LCD screen stack together.
