Hi! Anyone used Sony's GPS unit?

Do you replace the original picture file with the GPS info? Or do you create new copy of pictures with GPS info?

I created a new copy and I found the file size is slightly reduced.

The file size before and after (from file properties):
Before
Size: 3.01MB (3,165,108 bytes)
Size on disk: 3.01 (3,166,208 bytes)

After
Size: 2.99mb (3,143,601 bytes)
Size on disk: 3.00MB (3,145,728 bytes)

Does that mean some data is lost after applying the GPS info?
