Default Help.. This little thing is give me a big problem

My Aircon unit is in trouble. Please look at the copper tube, it is bare!!!

And I found the culprit that strip off the insulator!!! I saw it went in and came out.

I know it is nesting there. What should I do?
Acutally I felt honored that it has chosen to nest in my unit.
But, What will happen to the baby birds when I switch on my aircon?
I do not want to freeze the baby, I also do not want to put up with hot summer nights that is coming soon.

lure it out first, then try to keep them out. then fix the tube.

i think u should get rid of it. if the nestlings managed to survive, good. But if they don't, they will die and rot in there, and then plus all the bird **** and so on... i don't think u want to handle that.

Call a pest control company and see what they can do for u.

I had such experience before, we tot we are being humane. But the worms and bird ****... i don't wish it on anyone else.

But if I fixed the tube, the bird can't go in again.
The hole is there, because the bird stripped off the insulator.

Acutally, I like to keep the nest and watch the baby bird grow.
I am worried that if i switch on the air con, the eggs might not hatch or will freeze the baby bird to death.

i had such things happening at the compressor at my house.
    (point blocks kind)
    but different case.
the bird bulit their nest under the compressor though we bulit a "house" for them and placed it by the side of the compressor.
    guess what...
i'm not sure if it's the doin of that family but one day we found the eggs broken and scattered on the concrete flooring where the compressor was located.
    sad...

    You have a kind soul.
Maybe, is the doing of the crows.
Compressors are noisy, why they like to nest there?

How many eggs can I expect?
Is it ok to feed them?
I will try to take a picture of the couple tomorrow.

local birds aren't exactly attracted to "bird house"...mabbe look too much like HDB liao, later need to pay property tax.

really dun suggest you let them nest there unless you wan to re-pipe/re-wire your AC in the long run.

juz get a reasonable sized "box" place some food there and lure the birds out. make sure you seal that hole or it will simply ta-bao the food back into the hole.

    Thanks.

Acutally, I heard alot of commotion in there. They must be stripping the insulator inside there.

Can anyone show me how to build a house for them to make love?
I want to provide them with a alternative, before I seal the hole.

birds go out in the morning to get food. so maybe around 7am, u check the hole for the parents. and once they are out, you will have to gently remove the nest and place it outside. but before doing so. you will need to construct a nest first. some hays and twigs would be good.

most birders will not recommend you to move the eggs or even touch or go near the nest.

well... thats why i can suggest thou....

any birders here who can give some suggestions ? Remo ? Garion ?

Get the birds to pick 4D then hit a major first prize, move to a bigger house. Win win situation.:angel

crows dun like to go near widows.
also i live on the eleventh floor
even if they do come, my parrot will be screaming like siao.

i'm not sure how many eggs were laid
the nest was hidden quite in the middle under the compressor and no hand could even go it till that far
those birds are commonly seen near my compressor.
they come to steal leaves from the small pots of plants we place there.

wish the visiting bird brings u luck... saw from fengshui mag. that if a bat make a nest at yr house.. it will bring luck to the family..
anyway.. i suggest u remove the nest & place it somewhere near with a shade... do it as gentle as possible.. (DIY a bird house?) .. then seal off the hole... like a wire mesh ... cos' when the baby birds left the nest u still have to remove the debris...
Do it in the most humane way... a Good Deed Brings forth Good Karma..

    SAFETY 1ST though!
    Boss say:"Now i shall downgrade u all2 $90 flat for OT!"
I say:"better ask blanga do..." :bsmilie:
