I would prefer Canon compact camera as I feel it is much better and cheaper.

Perhaps you can look at your budget and match with the specs you are looking for.

But of coz, if you are looking for wide angle, go for panasonic.

    Just my personal view

check out review sites like www.dpreview.com where you can do some homework on your own. No one can tell you which is better than which, its your own preference.

Every brand has their better as well as lemon cameras.

The top end model from the lousiest brand will definately be better than the entry level of the most recognised brand.

Using brands to determine which compact is better should not be the way...

    Hi all,
Thanks! Sorry for posting such a question, but I really do not know much about cameras.

So go do your research. Look for review sites like CNet and dpreview. Most importantly, narrow it down to a couple favorites, then go test the cameras for yourself.

Every camera brand has it's pros and cons. There is no real "best" brand, just the best brand for your particular needs.

Try Fujilfilm digital camera like F20, F31 or F40.

    FUJI is the best!
    Let me substantiate my claim..

Ok not all the Fuji's a the best. It only applies to the fuji cams that uses the SuperCCD sensor. the superCCD offers high ISO shooting at significantly lower noise levels than all other brands out there, and at full resolution, other brands offer "high ISO" but at reduced resolution, this is because they actually use software noise reduction and down sizing the photo to get a better output.

Why you need high ISO? This is to take nice pictures at night and in those dark restaurants. If' you've even used a compact camera shooting with flash and you'll know what I mean. the subjects get overly brightened and the background pitch black. When you turn off the flash, the pics look natural and nice, but your shutter speed is too slow and made the picture blurred.

All other compact cameras use the same CCD sensor OEM other suppliers, there are only a few major CCD suppliers in the world. SONY being the biggest i think. Even though they supply sensors, I can't speak much of their 'fancy' cameras.

Bottomline: If you want a functional camera to use at night and indoors like during gatherings, I recommend fuji. If you want a camera purely based on looks or 'branding' then any other brand will fit the bill.

I strongly recommend Fuji Z5, refer to the manufacturer site for the picture: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/lineup/z5fd/

    This is no horse run:

    1. Sleek and Elegant design
    2. Same functionality as Fuji F40fd, except for smaller battery.
    3. Very low nise level at high ISO
    4. Continuous 2 shots: 1 without flash and next oen with flash
    5. Face detection
    6. Cost only $449 for the camera, 1G XD card, Porch, extra battery, LCS protection screen.

I love the look, but not the F31fd nor F40fd.

f40...why not other Fujifilm cams?...it has the lowlight image quality of Fujifilm, but can use SD cards, which are cheaper and larger capacity than xD

If u compare the three brands, I'll choose Canon. If u look from far, there is not much diffrence, but when u take a closer look and enlarge, u'll see the difference.
