Default Recommend portable photo printer

I was thinking of going to remote places in thailand to snap some pics of the locals and print and give them on the spot. think this will make their day. i'm using d70. i like to have a gd quality like those printed from the photo lab. budget ard $300. resonable pricing in a long run like cost of ink cartridges, photo paper. Perfer to print in 4R size.

My fren told me that printing on canon compact printer direct from dslr is very underexpose. but on a compact cam is fine. Since i do not have the luxury to edit slowly on my PC, i like to have it print directly from my d70 w optimum quality.

Hi, I too often goes into refugee camp to do mission work and at teh same time take pictures and Canon CP510 have been serving very well with what you are asking for. I am using Canon 20D and the pic turns out well... no underexpose for me.

PnS have high saturation and high sharpen as default setting, so direct print looks good, you also can set you D70 saturation on high, sharpness on high, also can load a custom curve. try to do a test on this printer.
When my associate and I do "shoot and print on site" using this printer, we created an adjustment layer with S curve in PhotoShop, just drag over to the image and print, everything come out swee swee.

I got the CP720, it is underexposed the first time I printed it out. Sent it to Canon for calibration and now it is alright. Each print is around $0.30 if you purchase the 108 print set.

went to harvey norman jus now. saw the sony compact printer. sony has the auto enchancement function. i think it's a + pt. cos the how dark or how bright is relative to the lcd of the cam and or eyes. if there's such a auto enchancement function, the cpu of sony printer will calibrate in such a way tt's optimum for its printing. what do u think? Canon don't have this function. but canon has optional batt pack but not sony...
