Default 7D battery problem

Hi fellow CSers,
I bought my 7D last year June, but hardly used due to busy schedule. Few days ago when i took out my battery and tried to charge it using the charger, but i realise that my battery will never charge. Once i plugged in my battery, just a blink of red-LED and then gone. But i still left it to charge for few hours, but when i verified it using my 7D, noticed that it never get charged at all. Have you guys encountered this before? Is it my battery faulty already? and is it cover under warranty? And where can get the service center to check for me?
Please advice and thanks in advance.

I used to hv this problem w my 5D batts, which I sorta temporarily "fixed" by adjusting the batt position in & out until the charger's red LED light stays constantly on to indicate charging... But after some time I realised my charger went totally dead out of the sudden 1 fine day w/o any warning. Not sure if it's due to the 3rd-party batts I use. Charger & 1x 3rd-party batt went dead almost abt the same time but my remaining 2 batts (1x original & 1x 3rd-party) r still alive & kicking...

I had a similar problem with my battery refusing to charge. Discharge the battery completly than charged it. Seems to be working now.

Erm... A battery is NOT a calculator. The only thing you might do there is damage the battery. You discharge it completely by USING it. When your cam dies, power it up again, keep doing this until the cam won't even turn on anymore, then try recharging it.

just buy a new one. even if you can get it to charge do you want it to die on you in the middle of a shoot? the non-originals are about $30+ each.

btw i read somewhere that you should not charge your batteries fully before storing them. i'm not sure which is the "right" method. in any case, i've stored full and drained batteries (sometimes charge all 8 but end up not using all of them), but because i cycle them around and use them often i haven't had any die on me yet.

A new original NP-400 costs $38+ before GST... works out to about $40... still pretty affordable. It's just a few dollars more than EastGear's 3rd party replacement at $34+ including GST.

whoa
Where'd you get new ori NP-400 from? I bought mine from AP @ Sim Lim, a third party one for $36. With so little price difference like that, somehow i prefer to have the original.
Suddenly i feel like I've been ripped off

Lithium Ion Battery packs s
should not be left uncharged for a long time.
There is a overdrain..safety circuitry that cuts off the battery voltage to zero once it reaches some threshold voltage and may make the circuit not user resettable.
It needs to go through some specific cycling to recover.

Therefore, use your lithium Ion packs often and charge ocassionally even if not used.
