Sorry,not familiar with mini sd card with converter....Normal one ok to use, but if it is SDHC memory card, need to update firmware to the latest one.

IMHO mini sd on any digi cam is a bad idea. It's really slow even compared with standard sd. If you are shotting with JPG then not so bad. I tried 1GB kingston mini-sd w/adapter in raw, and it is really annoying having to wait.
