    Is there any way we can get this kind of effect with our photos, or do we have to rely on post-processing trickery to get it?

    use a wide angle and shove the camera in the dog's face...:P

    hmm think they were shot with fisheye lens...correct me if i'm wrong.

    I've been trying to duplicate it with a WA lens but I cannot get the head to look bulbous enough. In the photo above it looks like what's in the center of the lens is the most affected by the bulging.
