Default which miniDV cam < $1,000

Hi, a friend of mine is asking me (and i'm still figuring y) which miniDV cam should he get for about 1K.

He hopes to be able to have quite a number of controls though.....like manual focussing, cine like gamma......

I'm not at all good in this, and so thought i'll seek the help of the pros and experts on this forum.

Firstly, second hand or first hand?

for a mini dv cam with so much controls- (manual, cine gamma), it will have to be a prosumer level one. I don't think he can find one at 1k? Even good new entry level mini-dv cams are ard 1.2-1.5k?

okay will let him know....that he needs up upz his budget!

but could u list a couple of models that could be considered "good entry level mini-dv cams with controls" for that budget of 1.2-1.5?

at least can then let him recce around for certain models
