Can anybody recommend me a flash for a Nikon F601?
The new ones by Nikon too advanced 4 my 10yr old camera.
Preferbly can swivel, tilt up, zoom & bounce. & of coz TTL dedicated.

Anybody using the same camera as me or used b4? Pls recommend. Thanks

The top-end flash meant for F601 then was the SB25. This is not a common flash in the 2nd-hand market though.

If you are lucky, you might be able to find a used SB26 or SB28 for less than $300. Do take note that parts for SB26 and before are discontinued and if they have any problem, Nikon Singapore will not service them for you.

Aiyo... Gheez... Then is there any current models dat can work with my F601?
But the thing is, I cannot fully utilize the flash features since mine is such an old camera.
    Any idea?
    Thanx

i've tested a SB28 on a F601 before. Note that TTL is supported however, cam setting e.g aperture and zoom head have to be changed manual.

Care to explain further? I dun wuite understand.
My understanding is if the flash is TTL dedicated, it should be able to communicate with the lens regardless of whether in manual or auto mode.
    Thanx 4 ur enlightenment.

Saw a SB25 on sale at TCW. Can tried that out.

For flashes like SB26 and SB28 on F601, the focal length, ISO speed and aperture information do not relay from the camera to the flash. However, if you use TTL flash metering, you do not need to worry about the ISO speed and aperture setting on the flash.

However, for the zoom setting on the flash, set it to the widest focal length of the lens you are currently using and leave the rest to the TTL metering. I.E. If you are using a 28-80 lens, set the zoom value on the flash on 28mm and you need not worry about flash exposure after that if you are using TTL.

    Cheers!
