sort of remourse - _ -cos i was charged quite expensive for it... i tot it was cheap... got it for arnd 1.5k in a bundle with 1 kit lens and zoom lens, extra batt, 1 gig CF card and 2 UV filters. but i jus found out recently that the IT show offered something similar including a cam bag and tripod too for arnd 1.1k i tot sim lim is supposed to be cheap... went there as i missed the IT show... was actually considering nikon and canon but the salesman introduced dis to me... and i was thinking with the extra lens and cheaper price i could at least get more used to slr first and decide which type of lens i like

Hi iamcy, I'm redirecting this thread to the FourThirds forum - the common forum for all FourThirds systems, of which Olympus, together with Kodak, were the primary developers.

You may browse through the FourThirds forum to get a deeper understanding of your E-500.

Sorry to hear that. You did pay a little too much for the E-500 bundle.

Apart from Alan Photo, every other shop selling photographic equipment at Sim Lim are tourist traps; much like Lucky Plaza.

I'd like to point out that the AF is VERY accurate; but slower in low-light conditions.

Start-up time is slower because of the SSWF mechanism.

Tourist traps will get you in two ways.

Price high on camera, give discount.

Price cheap on camera, hantam you on accessories.

AF speeds are average; it is no D2 or 1D for sure. Under low contrast - low light conditions the focusing does hunt a little.

The C-AF is really the Achilles heel of the E-system currently, mostly due to the fact that the focus points are too close to each other.

Nah, personally I don't like anyone at Sim Lim - Alan included.

You might want to try TK Photo or MS Color, but check in here for the prices first. If you offer yourself to be eaten, they WILL eat you.

TK is over at Shaw Towers, MS is at AMK - they have two outlets there, one at AMK Hub, the other is next to the S11.

Welcome to the Olympus family.

Don't go running around for accessories and other stuff till you check with your fellow users here. The camera already comes with a pretty good set of lenses and thus do not require "upgrade" unless really necessary.
