Like asking what your fav speeding limit is..dumb
I am NOT a PROfessional photographer and photography is NOT my hobby
Right now around 8-11, since I doubt kit lenses are all that sharp at wide open..
f8 and be there
f2.8 will be always be the most popular due to the fact that f2.8 zooms are so valued here. oh, and also the amount of wedding/event photographers who use those lenses.

Tough question, I don't have a single f/stop that I favor the most, but my favourite range is
f/1.4-2 For low/available light shots (I use this a lot).
f/8-11 For sunny outdoors as this is the sweet spot of most lenses.
I don't usually use the smallest aperture unless shooting landscape or buildings. f/11 is enough to shoot big groups.
When I'm shooting portraits, I use f/2.8 and when I'm shooting landscapes, I go for f/8-f/11.
Hale's Twilight sucks bigtime!
My favourite aperture depends on the lens & purpose that I want to achieve.
It all depends on what you, as the photographer is trying to achieve, then set the aperture to achieve it. e.g. on a 17-35mm f/2.8 you would be able to throw the BG into a nice soft blur, whereas on a 70-200mm, at f/4, you'll be able to achieve the same degree of blur.
