Let me begin by saying these are taken in Agar-ration ie: shoot without looking thru the viewfinder. Mainly for stealth purposes.
The following were shot using a remote cable release and holding the camera (with lens pointing towards them) at the side of the body. Well... I din't bring any zoom lens with me that day so I have to use my EF28-105mm for the shots. These 3 kids were very camera shy so a direct shot would intimidate them (tried it; they ran all over the place). therefore I decided to set the cam to aperture priority and hold it on my left hand side of the body (full extended arms length) so that it would be around the height of the kids when they sit. With a remote cable release, I inched my way closer to the kids and started snapping away. Result's not too bad I want a EF70-200L !!!!! Taken with EOS 30 w. EF28-105mm Evaluative metering Aperture priority @ f3.5 Fujifilm XTRA 400 * 3 young pretty ladies * Hmm... what's he got there... Comments are greatly appreciated! Self-critique: yeah, they are not exactly sharp but well, the EF28-105mm capability and the agar-ration works! ![]()

Ah yes. Street Photography (aka the art of taking sneaky pictures).
Actually what you can do is hang the camera around your neck, with the camera at about tummy level. Use a small lens or a battery grip to keep the lens pointing horizontally rather than down. Thread the remote release between your shirt buttons and into your trouser pocket. Then just walk around with your hand in your trouser pocket and fire away. This way, you can aim your camera better than if you were doing it sideways. Works best with a very wide or fisheye lens. Incidentally, you can convert your (excellent) fisheye pictures into a rectilinear wide angle lens using Panorama Tools. You knew that, right? |
