Trying to emphasize the contrast between light and darkness. Not too sure if it works. Comments are welcome for improvements.

#3 is great! feel really small in a great uncertain world type of feeling. and I wld give more sky and a little less of the detail-less bottom to emphasise the vastness and turbulence.
#1 is better than #2. maybe can be improved with some diffused softenening, but very subtly. #2 is kinda cliche and also harsh. #4 and #5 basically unbalanced. some potential. but need to avoid being cliche again. |

Thank you for the comments and suggestions!
Will try to improve upon them.espion: What is meant by cliche? Checked the dictionary and it says it means something like an overused expression. Don't really know whether this is what you meant. In addition, do you mind explaining a little more about "unbalanced" in #4 and #5...as in, what do you mean by that word (too dark, too much dark area etc?), and what could be done to improve it. So sorry I couldn't quite get your meaning. ![]() |

#3 is very nice. You OI it? =)
To help espion out, when you say something is cliched, it means that it's been done to its death, e.g. almost customary Merlion or Esplanade shot that we have seen only 800 times taken by different people at the same vantage point, etc.. Hope you get what I mean. |

Oh I see. Didn't know that those were considered cliche...saw and just shot.
What is "OI"? |

Thanks! What I used was from the Photographymags link that teerex sent us. http://www.photographymags.co.uk/pdf/309/144521.pdf
Basically softened the picture using diffuse glow. Think it is a variation of OI I guess |
