    hi i was just wondering if it is possible to get the star effect from lights during night shots without using star cross filters?

    use very small aperture like f/16 or even smaller, but the length of spike still can't match the star filter .

    thanks alot... but those tt means i will have to use a higher iso setting and more noise right?

    No need for high ISO settings. ISO 100 will be enough. For example a typical city landscape put at f/8 and expose for around 4 secs @ ISO 100, the star patterns will show already.
    Canon EOS 5D, 24-70 f/4 L IS, 50 f/1.2 L, 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS, 600EX-RT. Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6 EX.
