Thread: Have anyone tried B&H before?

  1. #1

Question Have anyone tried B&H before?

I have an eye on the EF 180mm Macro on there, it converts to S$1900+ only,
much cheaper than the Canon pricelist in CS.
How much might the delivery cost?
Do I pay import tax in Singapore?

Delivery cost depends on the courier you choose and can easily cost more than US$50 for a lens.

It's hard to say whether you'd be charged GST as it depends on your luck. I've had items that cost a couple of thousands get pass customs without getting taxed but also items that cost around $500 getting checked and taxed...it really depends...

BhHphotovideo just use their UPS express, fast and good.... >$400 means GST 5% and add another 2% customs tax.

Order 2nd lens from B&H before, the service, packaging has been good. You can place order and send though Vpost to safe some postage cost, but take much longer.

Order + postage above S$400 will be taxed for GST .

Note that a $400 cutoff for GST charge to kick in is a total on your invoice including any shipping charges form B&H.

Just don't pick UPS as a shipping option, as you will defintely have to pay GST if total CIF value is above SGD$400 and also pay the UPS admin fee (on top of the GST) for processing your GST.

If you pick USPS (Express or otherwise) then you have a (fairly good) chance of not having to pay GST at all.

US Postal Service?! I had a bad experience with them... awfully bad, where my item was lost in post. Fortunately, the company was nice enuff to reimburse me with the same order with no additional charges and using Fedex express service.
