Were the pictures taken by your D70 or by a compact P&S camera?

I'm asking because the DOF seems to be a little large in that the building and people standing in the background are too much in focus, distracting a bit of attention away.

If it's taken by a DSLR, I guess you used a small aperture and thus, the flash on the model appears harsh because there is high contrast between the bright model in front and dim background. At first, I thought it was small aperture with a low ISO but upon closer examination, I notice the high noise in the dark areas in the pictures. May I know what aperture and ISO did you use?

was taken with D70, iso a bit on high side 640, 1/200, f/4.5....harsh flash ? sb400 must be quite a powerful flash then

Thanks for the reply.

May I know what focal length you used? Looks very much shorter than 200mm.

think it was around 30-40mm......could have zoom in more to get half body shots but decided to go for full body....

Oh, I see. No wonder the background is rendered in this way ....... not very much out of focus although theoretically there isn't much of a difference in DOF between using 35mm at 2.8m away and 200mm at 16m away for similar full body shots on a D70.

Personally, I think full body (especially with the footwear seen) is a good idea to fully capture the fashion showcased.
