xD card problems

tried to search but did not find any similar problems from previous threads.

i am using 725sw and i am having problems transferring the pictures taken to my macbook and also my pc.

I have a 1gb M xD.

problem a: when i first bought it, able to transfer to macbook by using the wire given and attach it directly to camera and macbook recognised as an external drive. However i bought also an xD reader/writer and when i attached it to macbook it failed to recognise it.

problem b: used a normal pc with multi card reader and when i slotted it in, it recognised only half of the pictures and videos taken and able to transfer about 50 pics and videos combined but not the rest. The rest is not seen on the card even though i am previewing it well on the camera (about another 20 pics.

problem c: attached the card with camera onto my macbook and it says card is empty and again pictures can still be reviewed in camera.

finally attached camera with wire given to a pc and then the rest of pictures recognised and transferred to pc.

now i have to transger the pics to macbook by using another thumb drive.

I think this is inconvenient and rather idiosyncratic of the xD card and i dont know how to get over the problems.

can i know what the issue is, i.e. bad xD card, incompatabity etc etc.

i have not tried using the card reader/writer on the pc as i dont want to add another dimension to the problem.
