Default Wanted: 1-2 Photographers for Voluntary Welfare Organization Forum

Hi all,

I am currently looking for 1-2 photographers to cover a forum that will be held on the 31st of March 2007 at Suntec Theatre, Suntec Convention Centre.

Basically, it will be a 1/2 day event (preferably from 9am to 12/1pm), and I would need the photographer to cover the event.

Some event details:
Quote:
The Social Entrepreneurship Forum 2007 (http://www.seforum.sg) is a national-level forum initiated by a group of NUS students, where it seeks to be a key networking platform between social enterprises (ie. non profit organizations, voluntary welfare organizations) and corporate organizations.

With the introduction of the Tri-City Research, we hope to be able to provide insightful advice into the best practices of various SEs in the SE Asian region (i.e. HK, Taipei and Singapore).
I would require a copy of all full, unresized jpg images to be made available on CDs/DVDs. No postprocessing is required, but please ensure that the images are decently exposed. It is preferred that the photographer has long and fast lenses (min 200mm), as he/she would need to take shots of panel speakers and their presentations in a theatre setting.

As this is a student initiative (and an event for welfare organizations), we are extremely limited in budget. However, I am trying to arrange for a token sum to at least cover the photographer's meals and transportation.

Unfortunately, as I will be involved in the execution of the event, I will not be able to cover the event myself.

Even though this may be requesting for "free" services of sorts, we require the commitment of the individual (and no kite-flyers please). Before anyone starts bashing against free photographers, please feel free to contact me through PM if you have any doubts.

Do let me know if you are interested (and it'll be great if you could provide a portfolio for viewing, if any).

I will say it is an good opportunity for those who haven't got a chance to cover events.

But if the TS start to ask you to do it free, please spare a moment to think if it is worth your while.

I have worked with student bodies who have tight budget, but they did pay a decent amt to cover my time and effort.

Hi all,

Please allow to explain further.

We are not a charity event group per se, but rather, this is a forum dedicated to social enterprises in Singapore, and how can we can improve the local SE scene in Singapore (in view of the recent issues with the various charitable organizations). There will be no fees charged for attending the forum, and it will be free for all.

To clarify on what is defined as a social enterprise, here's a list of social enterprises in Singapore (and most of them will be attending the forum):

Hi david_goh, please do take note that we will be giving a small sum to cover the photographers expenses, although this sum may be subjective as to whether it covers "one's effort and cost".

I am in the midst of working out the figures, so I am unable to provide a firm estimate right now - but it will definitely be more than $50.

If everyone feels that this seems like an exploitation for free services, then I will probably cover the event myself.

Forgot to add this in:

Many people are usually confused by the term 'social entrepreneurship', and to what it really entails.

In a nutshell, social entrepreneurship seeks to utilize entrepreneurship skills and innovation in an social context - on how these voluntary organizations can stay operationally and financially sustainable in the long run.

Non-charity shouldn't be doing this IMHO, you have backings from large organisations who can sponsor, get sponsorship accordingly.

Voluntary welfare org/non-profit doesn't really justify to look for "cheap", "free" photographers these way.
