Movie buffs! How much do you spend monthly on movies?

Any smart ideas on cost effectiveness? *Please do not suggest watching VCD, I mean movies in cinemas ONLY*

renting DVDs or SCV at home.

No need to Q in line to pay $10 for a ticket, whose seat I may not get to chose or like.

Or screaming kids in the cinema...... or handphone ringing or $5 pop corns or that advertisement whom I have to pay to watch.....

Or go JB City Square watch the same movie at RM10.

Ya lah. Sound effect cannot match. But at least at home, I dun have to Q in line to ........

If I helped the film industry, who help me?
I don't buy pirated VCD, neither will I support pirated VCD trade. I usually borrow pirated VCDs/DVDs from my friends (80%) and at times rent from rental movies outlets (15%). For really good movies whch usually come once in a blue moon, I go to the cinemas (5%).

I agree with you on that. Have not watched a really really good movie for ages. Watched Daredevil(wasted time and $$$), About Schmidt (as above), Hero (as above x 2), Chicago (Cannot make it). Even LOTR The 2 towers was not all that good.

Going to watch "Better then Sex" this saturday. Hope its worth the $$$ and most importantly the time...

well to save some $$ you can simply use Kazaa Lite or Imesh to download the movies onto your PC. these days movies in DivX format are ripped from DVD and are of very good quality. U need broadband tho...i usually download them overnight.

If you want to watch at the movies u can use "Blink" sms payment. Check out www.blinkmobile.com for more details. U need a handphone and a credit card with either Maybank, Citibank or ABN Amro bank. Save off $4 per ticket up to a max of 10 tickets. NOW tat's regular savings!
Believe it. And it will be so.

Yep right... as far as I got it caculated, each cinema chain has got various offers with GV being the most amount of offers. *So many avenues of movie voucher redemption* Not to mention they got most amount of cinemas around. Shaw like not much offer leh... don't think me will watch there..... expensive compared to others.

    would prefer DVDs cos...

    1) i normally get overseas DVD cos i just hate the fact singapore censorship censor just anything & everything. i hate to watch a movie which have suddenly a missing shot.

    2) i can pause the show or resume next time at the same spot when i feel like it. best of all... can repeat what i missed.

    3) i can read english or chinese subtitles as sometimes those actors have soft or muffled voice which can't really catch the part.

    4) i can forget about those annoying external 'special effects' like coughing which i dunno why ppl choose to go to cinema to cough & those babies crying in midst of a show.

5)i can watch it over & over again as i like & when i like.
