Default how to turn off built in flash in commander mode in D70s

I am using a sb800 and a sb600 as slave off camera flashes

I am using the d70 to trigger both the flashes a distance away.

The problem is the pop up flash has to be up and the problem is that it flashes too.

How do i disable it form flashing and just use the IR to trigger both the flashes.

else i would have to get the su 800 commander

pls help

urgent.

IIRC,

you can't turn it off.

If you can't turn it off, is it possible to turn it down instead? to maybe just a red-eye (if there's this function) or fill flash mode.

If you disable it, it won't be able to trigger the slave flashes.

The D70/D70s' flash (as well as the D80's, D200's and SB-800's) cover not only the visible spectrum but also the IR one as well. IR Trigger signals are "embedded" in the flashes you see and these are picked up by the slave flashes' sensors.

While there is no way for you to disable the signal flashes, you can block it with this device from Nikon:

Nikon SG-31R (Infrared Panel for Built-In Flash)

Try asking for it at the local shops or check with the Nikon Showroom at Fuji Xerox Building.

No you can't, this isn't about the built-in flash interfering with the exposure

The D70/D70s' flash DOES NOT contribute to the overall exposure when it is set in Command mode and there is NO way you can set it to do so.

With the D80 and D200 on the other hand, you can set the built-in flash to contribute to the overall exposure.
