![]() Hi Everyone, just want to seek advise about speckles appearing on my photos. Looks like hot pixels. Appeared few times, I'm a D70 user. Is this a noise reduction failure, but I'm certain that its always "on" whenever I shoot @ night. Just want to know if I'm missing some settings, or how to avoid this. Thanx in advance. |

Wow, your pic's kinda small. Ok, I see a lot of those speckles in the sky. At first I thought they were stars but they look too digital. Looks like hot pixels.

Yes it is a long exposure shot 20plus seconds @ISO200, I also feel that it is a case of the NR failing to do its job properly. I've taken shot of these same scene 3 or 4 times to play around with my setting and only this one came out with this problem. This is why whould like to know if same case happens with others here. I keep my NR always "on"
BTW would like to know when/where to turn NR on or off, at what setting(shutter speed/aperture) is it effective because I find that it slows down the cam and eats a lot of battery life. |

got send to NSC for checking? If u dun know where to turn NR off, how you know your NR is on? It's in the Menu. IIRC, Tools(the one with the spanner). |

Yours is almost certainly a dead/hot pixel. There's a program to confirm this:
http://www.photo-freeware.net/deadpixeltest.php Not that it's any consolation but... Good luck. |

Hi! thanks for the link on deadpixel test. Tried it @ 1/30, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 30 sec. Didn't report any hot/dead pixel even if NR is turned off

Nope. Dust in your lens doesn't show up because it's too near the image plane.
