there are various speeds for SD cards - 50x, 66x and >100x. Can anyone advise which is the min speed suitable for D80?

If "Money no problem" buy as fast as you can, but if looking for value for money, a normal 1x speed 2G SD cost only $21.99. Anything in between depends on how much you are willing to pay.
Bear in mind that, the camera itself is already very fast, unless you are taking sports photography, most of the time the 16 frame buffer of the camera will be more than enough that you never need to wait for the cam to write before taking another shot. On the other hand, the feel good factor will drive you to buy as fast and as big capacity as possible. It is your choice. I am using the 50x 2G elite pro and very happy with it, it is fast enough to take continuous shots without slowing down. But only for testing, never need to take so much continuous shots. |

Wow! shooting RAW, very slow with the 50x Elite pro, after about 5 shots, it is almost at 1 frame per second rate. Well this was just my estimate but it is really slow. I guess for those who shoot RAW, you may need much faster card, but for those who shoot JPEG, I guess this card is good enough.
