What kind of flash mode this FZ50 is capable of?
You may be able to get a better balance between the darker background and the main subject with a combination of -ve flash compensation and a higher ISO. |

fz50 hav force flash, red-eye remove and slow syn. i am using -2 for flash out out... still can not stop the harsh shadow ... with higher ISO, Lumix would hav noise which i do not wish to see... |

If it's some form of TTL, the camera controls the the flash output. If you use low ISO under such indoor low light condition and you use full auto exposure (normal program in your case), the camera may fire up the flash output in order to achieve enough exposure on the foreground subjects, making the background relatively much darker. Instead, if you use a higher ISO and use some form of manual or semi-auto exposure, the camera would apply a lower flash output since the camera detects a higher natural light signal on your sensor with a higher ISO. At the same time, to have a better control over shutter speed since you probably want to avoid motion blur on your picture, you may want to try shutter priority for your FZ50 under such situations and set it to 1/60 or faster. Yes, noise is a problem for the FZ50 at higher ISO because of the tiny sensor size. However, I think ISO 200 should be ok if you use a good noise reduction software like Noise Ninja etc. Last edited by Clockunder; 12th March 2007 at 02:40 PM. |
