After I brought so many magazine on gadgets, here are some of my thoughts on PS3, Wii and Xbox360

PS3 - Pro - Cheapest BluRay player on the market right now. Backward Compatility is a good sign. Can install Linux but make sure you don't mess it up! Top Notch Graphic and reasonable pricing.

Con - Same old way of gaming, nothing special. Be perpare to pay high electricity bill, think worse than a air con. Need lastest LCD (1080p) and home theater system to support what you want.

Wii - Pro - Innovative way of gaming. Lowest power comsumption of all 3. Good for those mario lover.

Con - Might get tired after 1 hr of gaming on those intensive controlling. Limited games and consider weak graphic on a LCD TV.

Xbox 360 - Pro - Wide varity of games and support of controller. Lots of add-on, like HD-DVD and HDD. Good internet support and games are popular worldwide. High-end graphic too.

Con - Also draw high power, limited gaming experience. Old system but still running good.

Therefore, if you are a person who rich enough to own a good set of LCD TV and sound system and don't mind paying heavy bills, PS3 n Xbox is your choice. But you like mario, don't own a LCD TV, Wii is for u but remember, you might be tired after some time in gaming.

For me, I will decide later. Firstly, enough gaming for me on PC n DS. Also got to use TV for watching programs. So, I might ended up nothing in the end. Maybe save those $ for a car after I pass my licence.

Actually though it's priced at $799, most retailers sell it packaged with games. At the IT show, they were packaged with two games (cannot choose) at $900+.

I am waiting for this "offers" to be removed. I don't want to end up with games I don't play

Yes it is true. That is why the ones that were launched recently are cheaper.

There is a shift in Sony's strategy to make it backward-compatible by software. This will let them lower hardware costs in future.

Looking at Sony's presentation at the recent GDC, the plans they have are promising. Check out the videos here! http://www.eurogamer.net/tv_index.php (look at LittleBigPlanet)

just brought a psp , is really a powerful multimedia device , the gaming trend is at its peak , i went to funz center at amk hub, during my one hour stay, at least 20 pcs of psp were sold including and pple rushing for ds as well , next day went to buy my memory card is also fully packed. On the contrary , i passed by ms color , hardly see any customers , this actually surprises me because as last year when i was still very much into photography i still see alot customers inside , perhaps the trend has really changed.

Look at the sales of Wii and PS3 in Japan, you will know who's the trend leader.

Default Wii overtakes 360 in international sales

Recently, the Financial Times reported that the three-way race between the next-generation consoles has a new frontrunner. Citing cumulative sales data through the end of July, the British newspaper's Japanese correspondent is claiming that the Nintendo Wii has now sold more units worldwide than the Xbox 360, despite the latter's year-long headstart.

According to the Times, approximately 9 million Wiis were purchased across the globe as of July 31, just barely overtaking the 360's 8.9 million units sales during the same period. Both platforms were far ahead of the PlayStation 3, which sold only around an estimated 3.7 million units internationally.

If those numbers seem low, it's because they are for consoles that have been sold, not shipped. Typically, hardware makers tout the number of consoles they have shipped into the retail channels, not the numbers of actual consoles sold. In July, Microsoft announced it had shipped 11.5 million 360s, short of its self-imposed 12 million-unit goal. In May, Sony said it produced 5.5 million PS3s worldwide, though it has since changed its tracking method to account for consoles sold instead of made. Reps for Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony had not responded to requests for comment on the Times piece as of press time.

If accurate, the Wii sales milestone is a watershed for Nintendo. Though it has consistently dominated the handheld market, the 9 million-unit figure would mark the first time since the Super Nintendo era that Nintendo can lay claim to the bestselling console of its generation.

After launching a year behind the PlayStation 2 in 2001, the GameCube slid into third place, falling behind the Xbox, which was launched at nearly the same time. According to Wedbush Morgan Securities estimates, the still-in-production PS2 sold 112 million units internationally as of April 2007. By comparison the now-discontinued Xbox and GameCube sold 23.1 million and 22.1 million units, respectively. Launched in late 1998, the Sega Dreamcast sold only 8.5 million units worldwide during its short lifetime.

The Mario Factory's previous console, the N64, was trounced by the then-upstart original PlayStation, selling an estimated 29.8 million to 85.7 million units through April 2007. The SNES sold 46.5 million units, versus the Sega Genesis' 25.8 million units.
