Default Dirt in Lens

Hiz, i just got a 18-55mm lens from my uncle and i can see some dust in the lens. if i send it to nikon for cleaning, how much will it be? my uncle also say he got the warr of the len, about 4 months more. But he pass me the Yellow slip of paper which got the lens no and model. but no date. how to check for warr then?


Thinking of sending my D70 and the lens for cleaning.
D70 no warr, lens got warr...so not sure how much will it be.plz advice.

W/out a receipt, NSC will based on the manufactured date of the lens -- through the serial number.

IF you get charged for the lens cleaning, pls let me know how much it is; I'm thinking of sending my friend's lens & camera in for cleaning oso.

Dust in lens no need to worry too much, u clean it today they will come back later anyway, it wont affect image quality.
However, if fungus in lens or dust on sensor then u need to send for cleaning, they affect image quality.

use a vacuum cleaner. hold it at a small distance, hold the camera, flip the mirror up. blow at the sensor using blower and suck the dust away.....

Dust in lens is no problem. It won't show up in your pics at all. Don't bother sending it in for cleaning.

if it does not affect ur picture output i dun think theres a need to go for cleaning, lens cleaning requires the lens to be taken apart, thereby increasing the risk of element mis-calibration & mis-alignment during assembly after cleaning.

I hv dirt on sensor too. Call Nikon svcs, advice me to use blower.
Now after reading this, I'll add the vacuum cleaner.
