First unveiled in September 2006, the Sigma DP1 is a compact digital camera whose Foveon X3 4.69 million image pixel sensor is the same as that found in the company's SD14 digital SLR. This makes the sensor many times larger than is typically found in a point-and-shoot, which should result in image quality that is a cut above as well, despite the relatively low pixel count by today's standards.
