I used to use a Gillette razor long time ago. After switching to Electric shaver Braun 8595, I never look back!!! Just love it!

do you shave against the grain or with the grain?

I can never accustom myself to use manual blades due to my super-sensitive skin (thanks to my DNA for that).

After using several versions of Gillette shavers (and a very serious skin problem), I decided to switch to electric. Went through Philips, Braun and Panasonic. Finally settle on a Panasonic Lamdash shaver (top-of-the-line model with a 13,000 rpm motor). I never look back . The closest shave you can get, both blades and electric.

Always against. Closer and cleaner shave. With the grain seems like not shaving at all.

Wah! I never knew that electric shavers could challenge the razor blades in terms of closeness.

UPDATE: I finally succumbed to Gillette's marketing strategy and bought myself the new Fusion razor (non-powered version). The feeling that I have now compared to the Sensor Excel that I was previously using is that the Fusion feels 'rougher' to shave and is a little more uncomfortable for me. Also, for shaving sideburns using the back blade is not as effective compared to Sensor Excel as there is only a single blade at the back of the Fusion. Just my initial thoughts.

I'm using the Fusion Power now... and well, it works for me... smoother shave and slightly cleaner too. I always have problems with the stubble on my chin and this time, it feels like there is less than when I was using Mach 3.

The power function is rather interesting too, almost like a toy vibrator. I was joking to my GF that this can be a useful and cheap toy for the gers... only 1 x AA battery,

And yes, I prefer to shave against the grain too.

Shave against the grain is a must for a closer shave.

Actually, I'm not that clear as I dun have the non-powered Fusion to try. But it seems that the shaving refill head is designed differently. The powered version seems to have a slightly different lubricating strip and some other feature which I can't grasp.

The vibrations is supposed to help you get a smoother shave by allowing your shaver to reach closer and grip the stubble better (I suppose)

Could Gilette have made a design mistake in adding the single blade on the reverse side? It cut people who were not used to such a design.

Guess it comes from the kiasu idea of "my razor got one more feature than the competitor brands"

Do more blades mean better shave?
    1, then 2 then 3 then 4 (Schick)

then 5 (Gilette -- one up man ship mah,... I got one more blade than Schick).

So will some one in future sell a 10 blade razor?
When does it begin to look stupid to the ordinary consumer?

I'm using a March 3 and the shave wasnt as clean. I'm thinking to swap to fushion since it offers 5 blades and another at the back for tricker cut.

Does it really give cleaner cut? More CSer can attest to this?

btw, the power and non power difference lies in the lubricant only?
